What is the School for Changemakers ?
The School for Changemakers (SfCM) is a residential programme for young people who want to initiate and sustain positive change in their lives and beyond. During the course, the phenomenon of change is investigated from a variety of perspectives—from the personal, to the professional, to the social, to the spiritual. Participants also have the opportunity to learn from each other and expert contributors from a wide range of disciplines.
The SfCM aims to draw together young people with similar aspirations in a rare learning environment. Following the programme you will be part of a dynamic network of future leaders who are making a difference to the world and who understand the importance of cultivating personal attitudes, skills and knowledge as a good way of contending with the challenges and opportunities of a world in flux.
SfCM is a powerful collaboration between Initiatives of Change UK, Liverpool Hope University and i-Genius.
Caux on Campus
Initiatives of Change International Confernce Centre
SfCM was inspired by the renowned Caux (pronounced "Co") Conference Centre, in Caux, Switzerland. The Caux Centre is owned by Initiatives of Change, a Non-Governmental Organisation with Special Consultative Status at the United Nations which seeks to promote obedience to the voice of conscience or the highest values of one‘s faith and the ethical standards of honesty, purity, love and selflessness as guidelines for our personal behaviour and for our commitments to society.
After attending a conference at Caux, Professor Gerald Pillay, Vice Chancellor of Liverpool Hope University had the idea to extend the inspirational and empowering quality of the conference centre to his university in the UK, and literally bring "Caux on to Campus".

School for Changemakers 2010
School for Chanmakers 2010 Participants
The first SfCM conference was held over five sunny days at Liverpool Hope University in June 2010. It was a huge success, with all participants giving rave reviews about their time together.
They not only highlighted the enjoyable and happy times they shared but also the deeply meaningful life lessons offered by the programme.
Following SfCM 2010, participants returned home with a deeper understanding of how to bring about positive changes in the world. A network now exists, with alumni talking all the time and running reunion events and helping to make future SfCM conferneces even better!

Testimonials
“ Regardless of the billions of discussions going on in the world at that time, for us, the world revolved around us - the absolute humanity.”
- Adam, Psychology Student & affiliate of Learn to Lead, UK
“ One of the facilitators made a point that resonates with me (I agree with) "The curriculum should not be the puropse of education. Educations is much more about deeper developement, forming people of love, passion, and with a sense of hope". Another facilitator said "Transforming the world is transforming through yourself. Education gives acces to personal identity and personal well-being."”
- Soumaya, Student & Activist, Netherlands
“ I'm not really sure if it which part of the time in Liverpool it was that started it, but a moment the change is still happening inside me. Its because since the conference I think about how i can help in any given situation.”
